Yes, it definitely was disturbing and a reminder of how evil demons are - they are not misunderstood but evil.
They also don't understand the meaning of love, which is the driving force behind Sam and Dean's relationship. Sam and Dean's relationship is not gratuitous or evil. Azazel could never comprehend a love like they have. JMO.
