I'm trying to keep a somewhat realistic sense of the real-life perils of being LGBTQ in this story. There are still a lot of people who have a problem with it. At the same time, I want to show a slightly better world in my writing that perhaps exists in real life. So I felt I needed to show the reactions of these new people to the love that shines off Sam and Dean even when they think they're trying to hide it.

Anyway, yes, the Germans won't mind. :)
