Funny you should ask. I used to be a VERY wordy writer. Lots of adjectives. But over time, as I spent eight years getting my BA in Creative Writing and MFA in fiction, I saw how cutting away detail made writing more powerful. I started feeling it as I wrote, cutting away the verbal decorations before they made it to the first draft. That lesson became part of me. And writing all this Wincest really helped with that.
