Sorry it made you feel awful! This chapter serves several important purposes (as you already know): It shows that the demons are really evil. Like, not just kind of attractive men that are bad boys, as we usually see on the show, but EVIL. And two, to show an example of actual perversion, and then follow it with what Sam and Dean have, to illustrate how it is the opposite of perverse.
