Oh, this is definitely another one of my favourite chapters in this series! I love the whole thing of course, but this is one of the chapters that resonated extra strongly with me.
I absolutely loved the gifts they gave each other. The beautiful geode symbolizing them was lovely. As was the ring - that actually had me melting into my sofa, I have such a thing for Sam and Dean wearing each other's ring and getting married.
And then the intense marking! You so pushed all my buttons with that one. I love the symmetry of their initials being the same number of cuts, that they used their knives for it and the intimacy of marking each other this way. It just blew me away and was wonderfully done.
I also really like that we learned another detail about the knives, which I'm sure will become very significant in the future.
And of course Dean's phone call to Bobby. I love that guy and it was a hopeful step towards a reconciliation with him. You could tell how much it was all weighing on him and I hope someday they'll all be able to come to terms with what happened.
The whole chapter was absolutely fantastic and like a condensed version of so many things that I love about the whole fic, thank you! Like a Christmas present for me, too. :)
